What is Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer is the number one form of cancer found in women. Early detection and treatment can save lives. Survival rates are reported to be around 80% - 90% in developed parts of the world. The key in combating breast cancer is early detection via a mammogram.
A mammogram is whereby several X-ray images are taken to examine the breast for the presence of any abnormal growths. During the procedure, the breast is compressed and the radiologist takes X-ray images from multiple angles. Slight discomfort may be felt but this remains a highly important screening to prevent the most common cancer in women.
