Generally speaking, an abortion surgery is preferred over the abortion pill due to greater safety and comfort.

However, for patients who wish to consider the abortion pill, it is also safely doable with proper medical supervision.

Please arrange for a discussion with me by clicking the booking form here or WhatsApp, and we will go through your options together.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should you see a gynaecologist? +

It is generally recommended that girls between the ages of 13 and 15 consider scheduling their first appointment with a gynaecologist. As women reach the age of 25 and beyond, it is advisable to schedule regular women's health screenings.

You should also see a gynaecologist if you exhibit any of the following unusual symptoms:

  • Irregular or painful periods
  • Pain during sexual intercourse
  • Unusual vaginal discharge or excessive bleeding
  • Pelvic pain or discomfort
  • Vaginal infections
  • Fertility concerns
  • Menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes or vaginal dryness

What should you expect during the first gynaecological visit? +

During the first visit, the doctor will evaluate the patient’s medical history and general reproductive health. They may recommend certain screenings depending on the patient’s age and her risk of certain conditions. These tests may include a pelvic exam, Pap smear test, HPV test, and/or ultrasound.

What is the difference between surgical and medical abortion? +

Medical abortion (abortion pills) refers to terminating an early pregnancy through the use of a combination of two different medications: mifepristone to inhibit progesterone and misoprostol to cause uterine contractions.

On the other hand, surgical abortion involves dilating the cervix and using specialised instruments to remove the contents of the uterus. Unlike medical abortion which is only suitable for very early pregnancies, a surgical abortion can be performed on more advanced pregnancies (but before the legal limit of 24 weeks).

How will a doctor supervise a medical abortion? +

Taking the medication on your own is not recommended, as it can result in various complications. Patients should be properly assessed by a qualified doctor who specialises in abortions and undergo the necessary counselling process.

The procedure begins with a comprehensive consultation, followed by the prescription of mifepristone to inhibit progesterone and misoprostol to cause uterine contractions.

The doctor will then provide guidelines on what to expect, including information about cramping, bleeding, and potential abortion pill side effects. They will also arrange follow-up appointments to monitor the patient's health and ensure the abortion is complete.

How much does the abortion pill cost in Singapore? +

Abortion pills at our clinic in Singapore typically costs $500. However, this price can increase if additional treatment becomes necessary, as well as cost of follow-up checks and consultation. Our clinic will provide detailed information for your specific case during the initial consultation.
